Back
in late September 2011 the Wall Street Journal published an in-depth
article on David Beckham. The images accompanying the article were taken
by the talented photographer, Paul Wetherell.
The
images show Beckham as being sharp, dressed head-to-toe in Ralph
Lauren's finest. Sophisticated as he casually leans back on a sofa; and
finally he shows his notoriously serious expression on his face in the
images.
The
images by Wetherell show Beckham as being a man of high class, styled
in a way which depicts his wealth and success in keeping with the tone
of the magazine the original article was meant for.
One
thing I really like about these images is the soft lighting. The
lighting compliments the calm colours in the image as well as Beckham's
skin tone. It means the portraits don't have to be in black and white in
order to project the mood of the images. There is little intensity in
the colour images and they make Beckham appear more natural.
If
anything it makes someone who lives one of the most privileged lives
possible appear normal, this in turn makes his level of success seem
more achievable to ordinary people like myself.
Thanks for reading this short little appreciation post. More from me next week!
